I personally am using Kodi, because it works with everything. But I'm thinking about switching because Kodi has horrible deinterlacing on the shield. SPMC is no longer under development, so it's kind of a bad idea to use an application that will never see an update. I haven't tried MrMc, but I am curious. . .
